MPs from Korea pay a courtesy call on Speaker

A delegation of Members of Parliament of the Republic of Korea led by Hon. LEE Ju-Young, Former Minister of Oceans and Fisheries paid a courtesy call on the Speaker of Chamber of Deputies, Rt. Hon. Mukabalisa Donatille on Friday 12 May 2017.

The head of delegation Hon. LEE Ju-Young, said that their visit intends to build bilateral relationship between the Parliament of Rwanda and the Parliament of Republic of Korea. He added that Korea will keep on supporting Rwanda especially in developing ICT.

In her remarks, Right Hon. Mukabalisa, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, commended the delegation for their mutual co-operation with Rwanda through the support that Republic of Korea grants to Rwanda through different sectors such as Education and Technology in order to boost national development after the economic deadlock caused by the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The Speaker also mentioned that the Parliament of Rwanda is currently considering the company bill which intends to open up opportunities for investors from the world over, including Koreans who want to do their business in Rwanda.

“Due to peace and security that we enjoy here in our country, we have encouraged Koreans to keep on investing in Rwanda, and we are currently amending the company law with the purpose of facilitating investors as Rwanda is committed to attract investors from different countries who want to bring their assets in Rwanda” she said.       

The Korea Parliamentarians also came to Rwanda to attend Transform Africa Summit which was held in Kigali from 10 to 12 May 2017.
