German MPs pay a courtesy call on SpeakerCategory: Chamber Of Deputies
The Speaker of Chamber of Deputies, Right Hon. Mukabalisa Donatille received in audience the delegation of Members of Parliament of The Budget Committee of the German Parliament (Bundestag).
The Head of delegation Hon. Mr. Volkmar Klein said that they were pleased to come to Rwanda and saluted the success and the achievement of Rwanda 22 years after 1994 Genocide against Tutsis. More specifically, he commended the effort made by the Government of Rwanda to empower women which is today rewarded with and showcased by their significant contribution to the development of the Country.
“We came here to strengthen good relations between our two countries and we’ve realized that Rwanda is developing rapidly and its economy is stable especially in these 22 years after the Genocide against Tutsis.” Said Honorable Volkmar Klein.
The Speaker of Chamber of Deputies Right Honorable Mukabalisa Donatille, speaking on the same occasion, said that the German MPs came to visit Rwanda Parliament to reinforce mutual partnership between Rwanda and Germany and they have appreciated the step Rwanda has made in its development.
“They come to see how the support that they give to Rwanda is used and they have saluted the stability of Rwanda and the development made after the Genocide against Tutsis”. She declared.
Before their meeting with the Speaker, this delegation met Members of Rwanda Parliamentary Committee on Budget and National Patrimony and exchanged experiences.
Diplomatic relations between Rwanda and Germany were established in 1963. After the Genocide against Tutsi in 1994, Germany was among the first countries to resume development cooperation with Rwanda. Currently, both countries maintain a permanent political dialogue through exchange of high-level visits by officials.
