Speaker and Vice President of Senate hold talks with State Minister of Germany

Today, April 27, 2021 the Minister of State of the German Federal Foreign Office in charge of Africa, Mrs Michelle Munterfering, together with a delegation of six Parliamentarians from Bundestag conducted virtual visits consecutively to the Speaker of Chamber of Deputies Rt. Hon. Donatille Mukabalisa and to the Senate Vice-President Hon. Alvera Mukabaramba. Their interactions focused on gender equality in Rwanda, achievements, challenges and perspectives. They also reviewed consequences of the COVID-19 crisis in Rwanda, especially its impact on women and children.  

Speaker Mukabalisa explicated to the guests reasons why Rwanda preferred to preserve and promote gender equality, and how women are involved in national development. She also spoke about the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the country, especially on women and children, and the programs that have been put in place to help women and girls re-engage in their development activities.

In exchanges with the Vice President of the Senate, Hon. Alvera Mukabaramba, commended Germany for considering Rwanda for such a meeting. She also saluted the long-standing relations between the two countries, Rwanda and Germany.

Ms Michelle together with her delegation of MPs were pleased of insightful and fruitful interactions they had with the two leaders in the Rwandan Parliament. They unveiled that when the Covid-19 epidemic is over they will come to the country and hold face-to-face talks.
