Senate approves the appointment of Judges

On April 28, 2021, the virtual plenary of the Senate convened in an extraordinary session, approved the appointment of Dr Aimé Muyoboke Kalimunda, Judge of the Supreme Court, François Régis Rukundakuvuga, President of the Court of Appeal, and Clotilde Mukamurera, President of the High Court of Commerce.

In the opening of this extraordinary session, the Senate President Rt. Hon. Iyamuremye Augustin said the extraordinary session is arranged due to the urgency of some activities which cannot wait for the opening of the ordinary session.

On the other side, the Chamber of Deputies which also convened the extraordinary session adopted the law amending law No 22/2018 of 29/04/2018 relating to the civil, commercial, labour and administrative procedure, and the law approving the ratification of the agreement between the Government of the State of Qatar and the Government of the Republic of Rwanda for the elimination of double taxation with respect to taxes on income and the prevention of tax avoidance and evasion, signed at Doha, Qatar on 08 February 2021.

In this session, both chambers will sit jointly to hear the report of the Auditor-General, and the presentation of the Budget Framework Paper for 2021/2022-2023/2024.
