Senate approves the Appointment of Three Officials

The Plenary Assembly of the Senate in its sitting of 6 March 2020 chaired by the Senate President, Rt. Hon. Dr Augustin Iyamuremye approved the appointment of three high ranking officials, namely Dr Sebashongore Dieudonné appointed Ambassador of Rwanda to Belgium, Mr Rugemanshuro Regis appointed Director General of the Rwanda Social Security Board (RSSB) and Dr Mutimura Eugene appointed Executive Secretary of the National Council for Science and Technology.

Tabling the report of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security on the consideration of the file of Dr Sebashongore Dieudonn√©, the Chairperson of the said Committee, Hon. Bideri John Bonds told the Assembly that as per the experience of the candidate and the interview held with him, the Committee was convinced he was suitable for the position he had been appointed to. 

Hon. Bideri went on to say that the appointee expressed his commitment to strengthening the long-time diplomatic and historical ties between Rwanda and Belgium once approved by the Senate. 

The files of Mr Rugemanshuro Regis and Dr Mutimura Eugene were considered by the Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights, the report of which was presented to the Plenary Assembly by its Chairperson, Hon. Umuhire Adrie. She said that Mr Rugemanshuro Regis proved to be the right person for the top job in RSSB, thanks to his knowledge and skills in ICT and project management plus a huge professional experience.

Talking about the file of Dr Mutimura Eugene, Hon. Umuhire told the Assembly that the Committee concluded that the candidate was fit for the position he was appointed to, owing to his competences and rich experience.

The Senate has the powers to approve the appointment of officials referred to under Article 86 of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 2003 revised in 2015, basing on the names and biographical information submitted by the Government.
