Senators from Kenya visit Kigali Genocide Memorial Center

This Friday, October 11, 2013, Senators from Kenya on a 5-day visit to Rwanda, paid tribute to the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.

Senators laid wreaths of flowers on graves where more than 250,000 genocide victims
lie buried. They were accompanied by a Member of the Senate of Rwanda, Hon. Narcisse Musabeyezu.

Speaking to journalists after touring the memorial center, Senator Mutahi Kagwe, the Head of Kenyan Delegation, who was shocked by what happened in Rwanda in 1994, calls everyone to visit the genocide memorial, particularly the youth, so that such a tragedy never happens again in the world.

The head of the delegation said that the prevention of genocide should not be the task of a single country but by the entire world.

Kenyan Senators visiting Rwanda are members of the Committee on Education and Information Technology. They are in a study visit to see for themselves   the development of new information technologies in Rwanda, particularly the implementation of the program “One Laptop per Child.”
