This Friday, 07 February 2020, the Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Right Honourable Mukabalisa Donatille, together with both Deputy Speakers Honourable Mukabagwiza Edda and Honourable Harerimana Mussa Fazil receives in a courtesy call, a delegation of Members of Parliament led by Honourable Hugues Renson, Vice-President of the National Assembly of France.

During their meeting, they exchanged on bilateral relations between two countries with a focus on how to strengthen the cooperation through parliamentary diplomacy. French parliamentarians also discussed with the Speaker on health issues.

Honourable Hugues Renson said that, as French parliamentarians, they are glad to be received by different high ranking officials in Rwanda during their three-day visit. He revealed that they appreciate the efforts made by Rwanda in the field of health.

“This courtesy visit is meant to appreciate the efforts brought by the Government of Rwanda on the issue of global health and the way it is inclusive”. He added.

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Right Honourable Mukabalisa Donatille commended the visit of members of Parliament of the National Assembly of France. She added that this visit by French parliamentarians reminds them of their responsibilities between the two parliaments to know more about what is being done at the level of bilateral relations and cooperation in their respective countries.

The visit of French MPs is organized by Global Health Advocates, a French based advocacy organisation on global health. The last time Global Health Advocates delegates visited Rwanda was in March 2019, under the joint Health Journal in Africa initiative and the French Presidential Council for Africa. The organization had the opportunity to discover innovative initiatives and to witness key structural reforms and the outstanding efforts of the Government of Rwanda in favour of Universal Health Coverage. The training of community health workers in Rwanda is one example and is seen as a critical enabler of Rwanda's health success.
