Speaker Mukabalisa said that the covid-19 pandemic shook and turned the world upside down, put nations in a critically challenging situation. She expressed satisfaction to how resiliently parliaments reacted to the current global crisis by carrying on delivering to their electors.

Speaker Mukabalisa called for Parliamentarians to capitalise on the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM 2021) to be held in Kigali and play their role by voicing their views and contributions in addressing the challenges that the Commonwealth nations and the world, in general, are facing.

The Chairperson of Executive Committee of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (Rwanda Branch), Rubagumya Emma reminded that this day was to be celebrated on March 8, 2021, but this date coincided with International Women’s Day, hence the suggestion to celebrate it on March 19, 2021.
