Representation of the Population
Members of Parliament (MPs) are elected by the people and entrusted with acting on their behalf.
Each MP keeps direct contact with the people. He or she has the responsibility to visit communities to learn about developmental programmes being implemented while identifying possible challenges standing in their way.
Such visits are conducted through Committees, by an individual Deputy, through forums or networks of Deputies or groups of Deputies. A Deputy may also learn about community developmental agendas being implemented and possible associated challenges through meetings of Districts councils Coordination Committee Kigali City Council, Sectors and Cells councils to which he or she is invited.
In addition, members of the community has the right to convey their opinions and petitions to MPs through any means of communication including meeting them at Parliament.
