The Office of the Auditor-General

The Office of the Auditor General of State Finances (OAG) is the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Rwanda. The OAG was established in 1998 by Law n° 79/2013 of 11/09/2013 determining the mission, organization and functioning of the office of the auditor general of state finances and became the SAI of Rwanda in June 2003. It is headed by the Auditor General assisted by a Deputy Auditor General. The Office of the Auditor General is vested with legal personality.

The National Commission on Human Rights

The National Human Rights Commission of Rwanda has been created by the Law n° 04/99 of 12th March 1999 modified and complemented by the Law n° 35/2002 of 31st December 2002. This Law was replaced by the Law n° 30/2007 of 6th July 2007 determining the organization and functioning of the National Commission for Human Rights based on the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 4th June 2003 as amended to date. Recently, so as to comply with the Paris Principles, the Law n° 30/2007 of 6th July 2007 has been replaced by Law n° 19/2013 of 25/03/2013 determining mission, organization and functioning of the National Commission for Human Rights.

The Office of the Ombudsman

The Office of the Ombudsman is one of the special institutions established by the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda in Article 140. The Office of the Ombudsman is governed by Law N⁰ 54/2021 of 29/08/2021. To prevent and fight injustice and corruption; To instill in the Rwandans values that consist of resisting, preventing, avoiding, and fighting injustice and corruption; To review and decide on injustice and corruption complaints that are not resolved by relevant organs; To receive and verify asset declarations; To advise the Government on the establishment and promotion of policies and strategies to prevent, fight and punish injustice and corruption; To monitor the implementation of policies and strategies aimed at preventing and fighting injustice and corruption;

The Public Service Commission

The Law N° 67/2018 of 30/08/2018 determining the responsibilities, organization and functioning of the National Public Service Commission (NPSC). This website highlights the assignments and duties of the Commission and activities that were achieved by various units of the Commission. The Commission shall be responsible for ensuring that policies, principles and laws governing public service recruitment and administration are adhered to and put into effect by all Government institutions.

The National Bank of Rwanda

The National Bank of Rwanda (NBR) was established in 1964 with the aim of issuing the Rwandan currency named Franc Rwandais (Frw). Over the years, the role of the NBR has evolved. The current Law N°48/2017 of 23/09/2017 as amended to date, confers a clear mandate on the NBR with a mission of ensuring price stability and a sound financial system. Price stability is achieved by conducting appropriate monetary policy in the interest of a stable macroeconomic environment, while financial stability is achieved by regulating and supervising the financial system.

Rwanda Governance Board

The Rwanda Governance Board (RGB) is a public institution established by law N°56/2016 of 16/12/2016, generally mandated to promote good governance principles and monitor service delivery across public and private sector institutions as well as Civil Society Organizations. RGB is independent and doesn't receive instructions from any other institution in exercising its mission. RGB submits its Annual Report and Action Plan to the President of the Republic and to the Parliament, Both Chambers, with a Copy to the President of the Supreme Court and Prime Minister.
