Women hold 63.75% of seats

Rwanda continues to stand as the first country in the world to achieve a female majority in its national parliament, with 63.75% of seats in the Chamber of Deputies held by women, a figure unmatched by any other sovereign state.

Checks and Balances

Power-sharing is respected in State institutions in accordance with the fundamental principles set out under Article 10 of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda and the provisions of other laws.

Power Sharing

All recognised political organisations hold seats in Parliament. Women, youth and persons with disabilities are likewise represented, rendering Parliament of Rwanda more inclusive than at any prior point in its history.
