Members of the Anti-Genocide Parliamentary Forum (AGPF) conducted a field visit across five districts to raise awareness about the UN Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide. The visit aimed to emphasize the fundamental principle of preventing and punishing genocide, combatting denial and revisionism related to genocide, and eradicating the ideology of genocide in all its forms. It took place on December 19-20, 2024.

The President of AGPF, Prof. Dusingizemungu Jean Pierre, stated, “We organize outreach activities targeting five districts where acts of violence against survivors of the 1994 Genocide are most frequently observed. We aimed to engage the public and raise awareness to combat genocide ideology. Additionally, we comforted the citizens affected by the barbaric acts directed at the survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi.”

Six groups of Senators and Deputies, members of AGPF, visited five districts: Karongi, Ngoma, Nyaruguru, Ruhango, and Rusizi. They hold meetings with leaders on the sector level, citizens during “Inteko z’Abaturage” and youth representatives as special categories.
