Members of the African Parliamentarians Network against Corruption-Rwanda Chapter (APNAC-Rwanda) carried out a 2-day campaign against corruption during which they met with Advisory Councils to fight against corruption and injustice at the district level in 15 districts across the country, interacted with citizens on the field and held talk shows on communities’ radio, From 16-18 November 2023.
Members of the Advisory Council to fight against corruption and injustice at the district level presented to MPs their activities in the fight against corruption and injustice including how they incorporate campaigns against corruption in various programmes from cells to the district level, how they help in investigation, and ways they report identified cases among others.
Among the challenges, Members of the Advisory Council to fight against corruption and injustice at the district level pointed out that the corruption issues remain complex to track given that they frequently occur in great secrecy.
During this campaign, while addressing the citizens, MPs explained the dangers of corruption and encouraged them to fight against it and never cease to report it where possible. Citizens were given an opportunity to ask questions related to injustice and corruption.
APNAC Rwanda’s activity aimed to exchange ideas with the members of the Advisory Council to fight against Corruption and Injustice on their role in preventing and fighting corruption, to look at the challenges they face in their functioning, and to explain to citizens the crime of corruption and its negative impacts on the development of the country and how they can report the corruption cases.
