The Committee on Budget and state patrimony is conducting an oversight task to assess the execution of the national budget during the first six months of the 2025/2026 Fiscal Year across all districts of the country. The exercise is taking place from 12 to 23 January 2026.
The oversight focuses on evaluating how public funds are utilized at the district level and whether budget implementation aligns with national priorities and citizens’ needs. In this process, the Committee is reviewing progress made, challenges encountered, and the effectiveness of budget execution in delivering planned programmes and services.
According to the President of the Budget Committee, Hon. Odette Uwamariya, the findings from this mid-year assessment will help identify good practices, address existing gaps, and inform recommendations for corrective measures where necessary.
During the oversight mission, Committee members are engaging with district officials in charge of planning and budget execution. They are examining financial reports, assessing the status of development projects, and analysing expenditure patterns. Particular attention is being paid to key sectors such as infrastructure, social services, and other programmes that have a direct impact on citizens’ livelihoods.
The outcomes of the oversight will be consolidated into a report to be submitted to the Chamber of Deputies. This report will guide follow-up actions, inform policy decisions, and contribute to enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in public financial management for the remainder of the 2025/2026 Fiscal Year.
