From 25 September to 13 October 2023, Senators of the Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights will be conducting an oversight activity to monitor the reintegration process of the graduates from rehabilitation centres in the Rwandan Society.
Senators will also oversee the ways graduates put into practice the skills gained from the vocational training centres they received from the rehabilitation centres to improve their well-being.
Senator Umuhire Adrie, the Chairperson of the Committee the Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights said that the activity falls under one of the Senate’s mandates of monitoring the implementation of fundamental principles. Among them, is “building a State committed to promoting social welfare and establishing appropriate mechanisms for equal opportunity to social justice.” She added.
Throughout the oversight activity, three groups of Senators will be visiting cooperatives of the reintegrated people in 13 districts and the City of Kigali, the Rehabilitation Centers and some families.
The Outreach activities will be followed by the meeting between the Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights and the institutions in charge of youth, family promotion and social development. The findings and recommendations on the oversight will be tabled to the Plenary Assembly of the Senate.
