Members of the Committee on Education, Technology, Culture, Sports and Youth are conducting an assessment on the implementation of the Education Policy and the Education Sector Strategic Plan (2017-2024) to evaluate their impact on the quality of education.

Hon. Rubagumya Furaha Emma, the Chairperson of the Committee on Education, Technology, Culture, Sports and Youth said that this activity aims to find out how the Education Policy of 2003 and the Education Sector Strategic Plan ( 2017-2024) have been implemented so that the findings will help the Chamber of Deputies to determine areas of focus in their oversight on the implementation of the Government's five-year plan (2024-2029) for the education sector.

Through this activity, four teams of Committee Members visited schools in 8 districts and the City of Kigali. They had meetings with different institutions responsible for implementing the Education Policy and the strategic plan, as well as with the Minister of Education, to discuss the Committee findings from the assessment and the way forward.

The  Minister highlighted the existing strategies stated in the Country Vision 2050 under implementation, the Government's 5-year plan (2024-2029) and the education policy being updated to solve the identified issues.

The findings and recommendations on the assessment activity will be tabled before the plenary sitting of the Chamber of Deputies.
