On 05 May 2026, the Plenary Sitting of the Chamber of Deputies urged the Minister of Sports to fast-track the revision of the law governing the organization of sports in Rwanda, improve the management and accessibility of sports infrastructure, and establish sustainable investment mechanisms for the sector.

Members of Parliament also called for a stronger system to identify and nurture young sports talent through collaboration among schools, sports clubs, federations, and the private sector. The recommendations followed the presentation of a report by the Committee on Education, Technology, Culture, Sports and Youth on the implementation of the National Sports Development Policy 2020–2030.

The Committee acknowledged progress in expanding sports infrastructure, promoting youth talent development programs, and strengthening coordination among stakeholders in the sports sector. However, it also highlighted challenges related to the management of sports facilities, high usage costs, and limited infrastructure in some areas of the country.
