Kigali, February 25, 2026 – The Plenary Sitting of the Chamber of Deputies has urged the Prime Minister to take swift action to address challenges identified in the implementation of the 2025/2026 national budget during its first half.

The call followed a report presented by the Committee on State Budget and Patrimony after oversight visits conducted in various districts and the City of Kigali. The report highlighted delays in project execution, planning gaps, unpaid contractors who have completed their work, and pending compensation for expropriated property, mainly due to incomplete documentation.

Deputies stressed the importance of strengthening planning processes ahead of the 2026/2027 national budget and the 2026/2027–2028/2029 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF), noting that effective planning is key to sustainable development.

Parliament reaffirmed its commitment to continued oversight to ensure the effective implementation of the adopted resolutions.
