Back to list MPs conclude the 3rd ordinary session for the year 2024/2025

On Monday, August 4, 2025, both Chambers of the Parliament of Rwanda concluded the 3rd Ordinary Session of the 2024/2025 fiscal year, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda.

The President of the Senate, Dr. Kalinda François Xavier, stated that during the session, the Senate fulfilled its constitutional responsibilities, including monitoring the application of the fundamental principles outlined in Article 10 of the Constitution and overseeing Government activities. Notably, the Prime Minister addressed both Chambers of Parliament on the Government’s achievements in promoting the social welfare of Rwandans.

The Senate also approved the appointment of ten officials, monitored the functioning of political organisations, and adopted several laws. These included the organic law governing the functioning of the Senate and the law ratifying the peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of Rwanda, signed in Washington on 27 June 2025.

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Hon. Kazarwa Gertrude, highlighted the Chamber's key activities during the session, which included the consideration and approval of laws, oversight of Government activities, and initiatives aimed at citizen engagement.

During the session, the Chamber of Deputies approved the relevance of five draft bills and passed eight laws. In terms of oversight and citizen engagement, the Chamber received a report on an outreach activity conducted nationwide to evaluate service delivery at the local government level.
