As articulated by Article 72 of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda of 2003, revised in 2015, on Monday, February 6, 2023, both chambers of the Parliament commenced the second ordinary session of the year 2022-2023.

Senate President, Rt Hon. Dr Kalinda Francois Xavier stated that during the second ordinary session, the senate will continue to monitor the application of fundamental principles and the functioning of political organizations, adopt laws, and exercise oversight over government activities. He added that Senators will organise field activities and the Open day.

On the other hand, Rt. Hon. Mukabalisa Donatille, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, pointed out that the Chamber of Deputies will consider the relevance of various bills and draft laws, vote laws, and include the law amending the law determining the state finances for the fiscal year 2022-2023.

Furthermore, she noted that different Ministers will be summoned to present verbal explanations to the Plenary Sitting following the issues raised during the MPs' field visits in November and December 2022.

"We will obviously have a lot of work during this ordinary session as we are almost at the end of our term, and we don't want to leave behind any incomplete task." She added.
