On February 20, 2024, the Plenary sitting of the Chamber of Deputies expressed satisfaction with the verbal explanations provided by the Minister of Trade and Industry Dr Ngabitsinze Jean Chrysostome on issues related to industrial zones and small and medium entrepreneurs.
The Minister presented a verbal explanation to the plenary sitting, addressing concerns raised by Members of Parliament during their outreach activities to oversee the functioning of small and medium-sized industries and other issues which were highlighted in the report of the Auditor General related to the development of industrial sites.
Minister Ngabitsinze outlined the government's strategy to address infrastructure challenges in industrial zones, confirming that the plan involves implementing key components such as roads, electricity, water, and other essential elements outlined in NST2.
In response to concerns about high electricity costs, Minister Ngabitsinze assured that the government is currently reviewing pricing structures. An official announcement on revised prices is imminent, intending to attract more investors.
Furthermore, Minister Ngabitsinze also talked about new rules to protect people's health and the environment.
