Articles

Members of the Parliamentary Committee on Land, Agriculture, Livestock and Environment are conducting oversight visits to 15 districts and the City of Kigali to assess implementation of the National Environment and Climate Change Policy (2019). The visits are taking place from 9–13 February 2026 in the districts and on 19 February 2026 in Kigali.

The mission focuses on evaluating progress in environmental protection and climate change adaptation and mitigation projects, and how they improve livelihoods and strengthen community resilience. MPs are meeting local leaders and inspecting selected projects to assess implementation, monitoring and on-the-ground impact.

The oversight follows consultations with key institutions, including the Rwanda Environment Management Authority(REMA), National Land Authority (NLA), Rwanda Water Resources Board (RWB), Rwanda Forestry Authority (RFA), Development Bank of Rwanda (BRD), Rwanda Green Fund (FONERWA) and Meteo Rwanda.

Findings will inform a report to the Chamber of Deputies, with recommendations to strengthen implementation, enhance accountability and ensure lasting environmental and climate benefits for citizens
