On June 10, 2024, Senate President Francois Xavier Kalinda, along with Vice Presidents Mukabaramba Alvera and Nyirasafari Esperance, met with members of the Committee on Education, Science, ICT, and Youth Development from the High Council of Parliament of Namibia. President Kalinda stated that the Namibian delegation was in Rwanda for a benchmarking visit, aimed at fostering good relations between the two parliaments.
During their visit, the Namibian MPs interacted with members of Rwanda's Senate Standing Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights. They discussed Rwanda's policies and programs in education, the promotion and integration of science and ICT, youth empowerment, and cultural promotion. The MPs also paid tribute to the victims of the Genocide Against the Tutsi at the Gisozi Genocide Memorial and visited the Campaign Against Genocide Museum to learn about Rwanda’s resilience in stopping the genocide and building a brighter future.
Hon. Olivia Hanghuwo, MP and Chairperson of the Standing Committee led the Namibian delegation. She mentioned that visiting various Rwandan institutions and ministries was beneficial. The delegation learned about Rwanda's youth empowerment programs and creative economic initiatives, which they plan to implement in Namibia.
