On Friday, 4th April 2025, both Chambers of the Parliament of Rwanda concluded the 2nd ordinary session of the year2024/2025 as per the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda.

Dr Kalinda François Xavier, the President of the Senate, stated that during the session, the Senate fulfilled its responsibility of monitoring the application of the fundamental principles stated by Article 10 of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda.  

The Senate approved the appointment of eight Members of the Council of Commissioners of the National Electoral Commission, conducted a countrywide outreach activity to assess the progress in enhancing health post functions and provided its opinion on the revised law determining the state finances for the 2024/2025 fiscal year.

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Kazarwa Gertrude, highlighted the activities carried out by the Chamber of Deputies. These included the approval of the relevance of 19 draft bills including 6 voted laws and others which are under consideration by Standing Committees and draft organic law determining the functioning of the Senate by the Conference of the Chairpersons. 

In line with the responsibility of oversight of Government activities, the Minister of Trade and Industry and the Minister of Local Government appeared before the Plenary sitting to provide oral answers. In addition, the Chamber of Deputies carried out a nationwide outreach activity to assess Citizens’ well-being and community development programs.

Prime Minister Dr. Ngirente Edouard addressed the joint plenary session of both Chambers of Parliament, highlighting the government's efforts to accelerate industrial production and boost exports for sustainable economic growth. Additionally, Parliament holds consultative meetings, including a session focused on understanding the nature and manifestations of genocide ideology in the region, its implications, and strategies for combating it.
