On 04 December 2025, the Parliament of Rwanda concluded its First Ordinary Session of the 2025/2026 of two months.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Senate President Rt Hon. Kalinda François Xavier highlighted the Senate’s achievements, including the adoption of the Organic Law governing the functioning of the Senate, the review of reports from Standing Committees, oversight of the functioning of political organisations, oral briefings from Government officials, approval of two Judges of the Court of Appeal, and the reception of several institutional reports submitted to Parliament, among others.

The Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Rt. Hon. Kazarwa Gertrude, noted that the Chamber of Deputies approved the relevance of 12 draft laws, adopted 14 laws, including the Organic Law governing the Senate, received oral briefings from the Minister of Local Government and the Minister of ICT and Innovation, and was presented with the National Urbanisation Policy by the Minister of Infrastructure. She also highlighted nationwide field visits being conducted by MPs to assess progress in urban development, housing, and land use.

Both Chambers reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening good governance, ensuring accountability, and supporting policies that enhance citizens’ welfare as they continue their legislative and oversight duties
