The Parliament of Rwanda has concluded its second ordinary session of the 2025/2026 fiscal year on 8 April 2026,  highlighting key legislative and oversight achievements aimed at improving citizens’ welfare.

Throughout the session, both Chambers were briefed by the Prime Minister on government actions focused on enhancing citizens’ well-being, safety, and dignity, under the theme “Putting the citizen at the center.”

In the Senate, major activities included field visits to assess livestock development, reviews of access to clean water, discussions on education reforms, monitoring of legal aid services, and evaluation of measures to protect communities from wildlife-related risks.

In the Chamber of Deputies, Members adopted a law on long-term savings to support the Ejo Heza programme. They also issued resolutions addressing feeder roads, bridges, and rainwater management, while conducting oversight on public procurement implementation, illegal mining, post-harvest management, and market access for rice and maize farmers.

The session concluded as Rwanda entered the 32nd commemoration period of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, which began on 7 April 2026. Members of Parliament will continue to participate in commemoration activities across the country, in line with the national programme.
