In a joint session of both Chambers on December 12, 2022, the plenary sitting elected nine (9) members of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA), representing Rwanda.

Musangabatware Clément, Nyiramana Aisha, Fatuma N. Ndangiza, Harebamungu Mathias, Kayonga Caroline Rwivanga, and Rutazana Francine are the newly elected EALA members from the political organizations, along with Françoise Uwumukiza from the National Women's Council, Alodie Iradukunda from the National Youth Council, and Alex Bahati from the National Council of People with Disabilities.

The National Electoral Commission submitted to the Parliament 24 candidates’ biographies, with 9 candidates from special categories and 15 from political organizations.

The nine (9) elected members will join other members from EAC member states. The membership of EALA currently stands at 62, with nine Elected Members from each of the six EAC Partner States with a 5 year- term, renewable and eight Ex-officio Members (Ministers in charge of EAC Affairs).
