On 25 November 2023, Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Right Honorable Mukabalisa Donatille together with Members of Rwanda Parliament and Members of the East African Legislative Assembly joined the residents of Masaka Sector, Kicukiro District in the City of Kigali in tree planting during Umuganda Community activities of November 2023.

Right Honorable Speaker Mukabalisa welcomed the EALA MPs in Rwanda for the EALA sittings and thanked them to have joined Rwandans in Umuganda Community activities and urged the citizens of Masaka Sector to protect the trees for the benefit of themselves and the environment in general.

While recalling the activities of the Network of Rwandan Parliamentarians on Population and Development (RPRPD) across the country, the Speaker encouraged the citizens to use the Rwanda Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system in birth and death registration to facilitate the country’s planning.

The citizens were also called to fight against gender-based violence, to avoid conflicts in the family members to work together and develop the country as well.

On that occasion of Umuganda, EALA legislators had the opportunity to engage in sensitization as part of the outreach activities, given that they were in Rwanda from 23 November to 07 December 2023 in Kigali Rwanda in line with the rotational sittings principle of having in the EAC Partner States’ capitals in a bid to bring the Community closer to the people.

Besides, EALA shall also have the 13th edition of the EAC interparliamentary games from 08 to 18 December 2023.
