On 30 September 2025, the Plenary Sitting of the Senate approved the appointment of the following officials:
•  Amb. Moses Rugema, High Commissioner-designate of Rwanda to the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
•  Mr Tuyizere Thaddée, Vice President of the National Commission for Human Rights.
•  Mr Byukusenge Jimmy Christian, Director General of the Rwanda Public Procurement Authority.
The approval followed consideration of reports presented by the Senate’s Standing Committees, which examined the nominees’ profiles.
• The Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security affirmed that Amb. Moses Rugema possesses the knowledge and experience in international relations and diplomacy required to effectively fulfil his responsibilities.
• The Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights noted that Mr Tuyizere Thaddée has a strong understanding of the Commission’s work and is well-prepared to perform his duties.
• The Committee on Economic Development and Finance emphasised that Mr Byukusenge Jimmy Christian brings valuable expertise in the field of procurement.

In line with its constitutional mandate, the Senate exercises the authority to approve the appointment of officials to key national institutions, ensuring that they meet the standards of competence, integrity, and professionalism.
