On 31 March 2023, the Plenary Sitting of the Senate, chaired by Vice President Hon. Nyirasafari Espérance, approved the appointment of six ambassadors/high commissioners, namely Fatou Harerimana, Nkubito Manzi Bakuramutsa, Mirenge John, Rosemary Mbabazi, Harerimana Abdul Karim, and Martin Ngoga.
The Committee on Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Security and Committee on Political Affairs and Governance analyzed the files of the said officials and were convinced that they have the required experience to effectively discharge their duties.
Fatou Harerimana appointed High Commissioner of Rwanda to the United Republic of Tanzania, served as the Vice President of the Senate in charge of Parliamentary Affairs and Government oversight from Oct 2014 -Oct 2019, and she served as the Vice President of the National Electoral Commission, NEC Kigali-Rwanda, among others.
Nkubito Manzi Bakuramutsa was appointed Ambassador of Rwanda to the Republic of Korea, served as CEO of ITi Africa, CEO of VSONE AFRICA, and Member of the International Jury for the UNESCO King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of ICTs in Education, and Head of One Laptop Per Child project, among others.
Mirenge John appointed Ambassador of Rwanda to the United Arab Emirates served as CEO Of Prime Insurance Ltd, CEO of Rwandair Ltd, Executive Chairman of Crystal Ventures Ltd, and Chief Operating Officer at MTN Rwandacell Ltd.
Rosemary Mbabazi appointed High Commissioner of Rwanda to Ghana was previously the Minister of Youth and Culture, she also served as Permanent Secretary in MINEACOM, Ministry of Youth and ICT, among others.
Harerimana Abdul Karim appointed Ambassador of Rwanda to the Republic of Indonesia, was a member of the Rwanda Elders Advisory Forum since 2015, he served as a Member of EALA and the Parliament of Rwanda, he served as Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Rwanda.
Ngoga Martin appointed High Commissioner of Rwanda to the Republic of Kenya, is currently the Chairperson of the Ethics Committee, FIFA, he served as the Speaker of EALA, and he also served as the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Rwanda.
