Kigali – On 16 June 2025,  the Plenary sitting of the Senate approved its recommendations on the draft law determining the State budget for the 2025/2026 fiscal year.

Senators expressed satisfaction that many of the suggestions on the draft State Budget Framework Paper for the 2025/2026 fiscal year were taken into account by the government, particularly the increase in the budget allocation for agriculture and energy sectors, increase of the budget allocated to the empowerment of the private sector to ease the business environment and stimulate job creation, especially for the youth.

Additionally, the government increased the budget allocated for the consolidation, construction, and rehabilitation of Genocide memorial sites, as well as the budget allocated to some districts for lifting their residents out of poverty, as recommended by the Senate.

The Senate reiterated its commitment to oversight and collaboration to ensure that budgetary decisions translate into impactful outcomes for all Rwandans.
