The Senate Committee on Social Affairs and Human Rights is conducting an oversight over  the programmes promoting the well-being of older persons across the country.

The main objective of this oversight activity is to examine how various public and stakeholders cater to the needs of older persons, assess their living conditions, and understand how elderly groups are empowered to actively contribute to national development while preserving Rwanda’s cultural values.

As part of the activity, the Committee is engaging with a wide range of stakeholders at national level, including government institutions responsible for implementing the Policy, non-governmental orgnisations, and representatives of associations of older persons. These consultations are aiming to collect insights on achievements, challenges, and areas requiring improvements.

Additionally, Senators will visit 12 selected districts across the country. During these  visits, they will meet with older persons living in both family settings and residential care facilities, local government officials, and non-governmental stakeholders.
