Senate President Rt Hon. François Xavier Kalinda is attending the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference (ISC) taking place in Islamabad, Pakistan, from 10 to 12 November 2025, under the theme “Peace, Security and Development.”
In his address to the conference, Rt Hon. Kalinda shared Rwanda’s experience in peacebuilding and development, emphasizing that sustainable peace and true progress are achieved when no one is left behind. He highlighted the crucial role of parliaments as institutions of dialogue and accountability, noting that parliamentary diplomacy remains a vital tool for fostering mutual understanding and inclusive growth.
On the sidelines of the conference, the Senate President held bilateral meetings with Mohamed Ould Rachid, President of the House of Councillors of the Kingdom of Morocco, and Yusuf Raza Gillani, Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan. Discussions focused on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and enhancing collaboration on shared development priorities.
The conference brings together parliamentary leaders from around the world to deliberate on practical approaches to advancing peace, ethical governance, and sustainable development. Delegates are expected to adopt the Islamabad Declaration, which will outline a framework for joint action toward a peaceful and equitable future.
