On 25th March 2025, The Plenary Sitting of the Senate summoned the Prime Minister to provide oral answers on Goverment's policies and strategies to address challenges in the operation and management of health posts.

This recommendation follows the approval of the report on the outreach activities conducted by all Senators across all districts and the City of Kigali from January 21 to 30, 2025, to assess the progress in enhancing health post functions

In line with provisions of Article 131 of the Constitution of the Republic of Rwanda, For purposes of exercising oversight over Government activities, the Senate may put oral or written questions to the Prime Minister to which he or she responds either in person if the questions concern the entire Cabinet or several Ministries collectively or through concerned Cabinet members.

The assessment revealed significant achievements, such as an increase in the number of health posts from 670 in 2017 to 1,280 in 2024, a decrease in maternal and infant mortality rates, and enhanced healthcare-seeking behavior among citizens.

However, the Senate also recognized ongoing challenges in health posts management that require immediate attention, such as shortages of healthcare staff, limitations in insurance coverage for patients, particularly ex-RAMA beneficiaries, outdated and irrelevant infrastructure, and contractual issues affecting privately managed health centers.
