On 18 March 2025, the Plenary Sitting of the Senate commended the Central Bank (BNR) for its strategies and contributions to supporting Rwanda's economic growth and enhancing the well-being of its citizens.

The commendation was made during the consideration of the report of the standing committee on finances on the Central Bank of Rwanda (BNR) 2023/2024 activity report.

Senators committed to continuing monitoring, through committee, the implementation of strategies aimed at addressing some issues raised in the same report.

Key achievements reflect the implementation of one of the fundamental principles: "Building a state committed to promoting social welfare and establishing appropriate mechanisms for equal opportunity to social justice." These include safeguarding the national economy, expanding access to financial services through Umurenge SACCOs, and promoting financial literacy.

BNR's report pointed out challenges such as rising market prices, currency depreciation, non-performing loans, and cyber threats.

The Senate emphasized the need for continued efforts to address these issues and ensure economic stability
