The Senate of Rwanda hosted an open day on March 17, 2023, during which youth from Kigali's different universities and higher learning institutions, as well as National Youth Council representatives at the national and Kigali City levels, met and interacted with Senators and learned more about their mandate.

Senate President Rt. Hon. Dr Kalinda François Xavier expressed gratitude to the youth who attended the Open day and stated that the Senate invited the youth to inform them about its activities. He added that Senators also wanted to hear young people's opinions to engage them to further participate in Rwanda’s development.

"It is necessary that we as leaders examine ourselves and see if young people, who are the pillars of the country's development, are well trained to protect and build on what Rwanda has accomplished," said Rt. Hon. Kalinda.

The discussions focused on the application of fundamental principles that the State of Rwanda pledges to uphold and ensure their respect, as stated in Article 10 of the Republic of Rwanda's Constitution of 2003, Revised in 2015.

The youth appreciated the opportunity to interact with senators and learn more about the mandate of the Senate and the methods employed to carry it out.
