On March 25, 2023, Senators joined hands with residents of Western Province's Rubavu, Nyabihu, and Rutsiro districts in the community work "Umuganda," which marked the end of March 2023.

A group of Senators led by the Senate President; Rt. Hon. Dr Kalinda Francois Xavier engaged in activities of radical terrace resettling in Kivumu Sector in Rutsiro District. Senators also toured various agriculture and animal resource development projects in Rutsiro District.

The second group of senators, headed by Vice President Hon. Nyirasafari Esperance, joined the citizens in Rubavu District, Rugerero Sector, where they maintained the road that is used by the residents to take goods to the market.

The third group of senators led by Vice President Hon. Mukabaramba Alvera joined forces with the local community in Nyabihu District to plant agroforestry trees.

Following Umuganda, President Kalinda interacted with citizens and urged them to combat genocide ideology and childhood stunting and contribute to upholding the security of our country.
 “I encourage you to be involved in the preparations and activities in the 29th Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994, and to maintain peace and security,” President of the Senate Kalinda added.
