All Senators Senators joined hands with residents of Gisagara, Huye and Nyamagabe Districts in Southern Province in the community work "Umuganda," of the month of May 2023.

A group of Senators and staff of the Senate led by the Senate President, Rt. Hon. Dr Kalinda François Xavier engaged in activities of maintaining the road of 2,5 km in Kibirizi Sector in Gisagara District.

The group of senators and staff of the Senate, headed by Vice President Hon. Nyirasafari Esperance, joined the citizens in Huye District, Huye Sector. The activity of the day was to create and reset the radical terraces.

The third group led by Vice President Hon. Mukabaramba Alvera were in Nyamagabe District, Uwinkindi Sector to maintain the road connecting Gasarenda-Musebeya and fight against erosion togther with residents of that area.

After the community works, Senator interacted with citizens on several subjects including the campaign for cleanliness, fighting against stunting and starvation among children and domestic violence. In addition, Citizens were given time to ask questions and suggestions, some of them were given answers and for others, Senators recommended directives on ways of resolving them.

“We have obligations of keeping our environment clean: clean our body, our household, our village, our workplaces and in all services that we offer, I urge you to be mindful of this issue for the good of our families, community and our country in general” President of the Senate Kalinda noted.
