Speaker Kazarwa Gertrude virtually attended the 18th Meeting of the Bureau of the East African Community Speakers of National Legislatures and the East African Legislative Assembly, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya on 13 November 2024.

The meeting considered the reports on matters related to regional integration and the preparatory progress of the 14th EAC Inter-Parliamentary Games.

In her statement, Speaker Kazarwa Gertrude urged participants to prioritise regional goals, fostering solidarity and unity as a community, stating, "As representatives of the people, it is our duty to hold our governments accountable to their commitments for regional integration."

"As Parliamentarians, we need to maintain frequent interactions, exchange best practices, learn from one another, and synchronize our efforts to overcome the common challenges facing our countries, working together to deliver to our citizen’s expectations, through our legislative and oversight mission. I, therefore, call upon all of us to maintain the momentum and speak as one voice to support regional efforts towards our Community’s development," Speaker Kazarwa added.
