The Speaker of the House of Commons of Canada, Greg Fergus, visited Rwanda from April 4th to April 8th, 2024, to attend the 30th Commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi in 1994.

During his stay, he met with the Speaker of the Rwandan Parliament, Mukabalisa Donatille, and Deputy Speakers Mukabagwiza Edda and Sheikh Harerimana Mussa Fazil to discuss strengthening parliamentary diplomacy through friendship groups.

Speaker Greg Fergus and his delegation also visited the Museum for Campaign Against Genocide at the Rwandan Parliament and various public institutions such as the Ministry of Gender and the Family Promotion, the Office of Auditor General, and the Ministry of Unity and Civic Engagement. They had fruitful discussions on collaboration in areas of mutual interest with various official leaders.

Moreover, Speaker Greg Fergus visited the Unity and Reconciliation Village in Mayange Sector in Bugesera District. The village brings together both survivors and perpetrators of the Genocide Against the Tutsi who work jointly towards a better future.
