From 26 to 30 March 2023, the Chairperson of the National Council of the Parliament of Namibia, Right Hon. Lukas Sinimbo Muha is in Rwanda for a benchmarking visit of 5 days.

At the Parliament, the Chairperson of the National Council of the Parliament of Namibia was received by the President of the Senate Right Hon. Dr Kalinda Francois Xavier together with Senate Vice Presidents and by Speaker Right Hon. Mukabalisa Donatille and Deputy Speakers respectively. 
They commended good relations between both countries and their discussions were centred on the functioning of both Parliaments and ways of boosting parliamentary diplomacy among others.

“We believe that we may not just only be proud of what we do back home in Namibia, but we can also learn good practices from countries, from other parliaments, from other jurisdictions." Rt. Hon. Lukas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council of the Parliament of Namibia.

Both Senate President Right Hon. Dr Kalinda François Xavier and Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Mukabalisa Donatille saluted the good relations and collaboration between Rwanda and Namibia.

"We made a plan to establish close cooperation between both Parliament of Rwanda and the Parliament of Namibia and sign a Memorandum of Understanding so that we can have formal ways of mutual collaboration," stated Senate President Dr Kalinda François Xavier.

"It shows the commitment of Parliaments in ways of further collaborating and exchanging best practices and keeping learning from each other in the interest of the people we represent." Speaker Mukabalisa Donatille said.

Besides, Rt. Hon. Lukas Sinimbo Muha, Chairperson of the National Council of the Parliament of Namibia paid respect to the victims of the Genocide Against the Tutsi at the Kigali Genocide Memorial and toured the Museum for Campaign against Genocide where he witnessed the history of the genocide against the Tutsi and the pathways to resilience in the post-genocide period.
