On Thursday, 26 January 2023, the Chamber of Deputies of Rwanda hosted a consultative meeting with representatives from universities, higher learning institutions, and civil society organizations to discuss ways to strengthen collaboration and partnership for the interest of the citizens.

Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies Right Hon. Donatille Mukabalisa stated that the meeting is intended to reinforce the existing partnership between the Parliament and civil society organizations, universities, and higher learning institutions to take citizens' opinions into account and encourage them to participate in parliamentary activities.

"I hope that we will make good use of this opportunity and develop strong resolutions that will assist us all in our responsibilities and partnership in bringing about the change that Rwandans deserve," she added.

Attendees commended the initiative and requested that the parliament consult with them more frequently because they are more zealous in providing input on draft laws and other parliamentary activities.

The meeting opted to hold this kind of consultative discussion annually and to keep working hard to involve civil society organizations, universities and other higher learning institutions in parliamentary activities that take the desires of the people into consideration.
