Speaking to media on achievement made during this first session of the year, The President of the Senate Right Honorable Bernard MAKUZA and The Speaker of Deputies Right Honorable Donatille MUKABALISA announce that the Parliament support that there should be zero tolerance to genocide denial and genocide ideology and will put an emphasis on this. This declaration was made in press conference held by both Chambers of the Parliament of Rwanda.

At this point, The President of The senate the Right Honorable Bernard MAKUZA told journalists that in these days approaching the 22nd commemoration period of  genocide against Tutsi ,all organs should put apply a zero tolerance principle to people who manifest genocide ideology and genocide denial.

“Fighting against genocide ideology and genocide denial is a continual fight, and requires us to be involved in this fight reducing to zero tolerance any act displaying the genocide ideology and genocide denial. The denial is proper to perpetrators: Those who prepared and perpetrated the genocide against Tutsi in 1994 designed a plan with a final stage and that is the stage of denial of Genocide against Tutsis” Right Honorable Makuza said.

In the same line with achieved results in the first session of this year, The Speaker of Deputies the Right Honorable Donatille MUKABALISA stated with regards to the continual fight against genocide and its ideology, among laws voted by the Chamber of Deputies, there is the law governing genocide commemoration and genocide memorial sites.

In this press conference, journalists asked various questions and the President of The senate, The Speaker and the MPs answered them giving the measures undertaken by the Parliament to solve them.
