Members of the Chamber of Deputies’ Committee on Social Affairs conducted field visits across 15 districts from 4 to 12 May 2025 to monitor progress in the fight against child malnutrition and stunting.

The visits aim to identify challenges and evaluate the effectiveness of current strategies, focusing on improving interventions to eliminate stunting in children and malnutrition. The Committee visited health posts, Early Childhood Development (ECD) facilities, and families that have successfully overcome malnutrition with the help of local health services.

At health centres, the Committee observed key interventions such as growth monitoring, nutrition education for parents, and collaboration with community health workers, while ECDs were also playing a critical role, offering health, nutrition, education, hygiene, and child protection services.

The Social Affairs Committee engaged with citizens during the community meetings, in which citizens pledged to support national efforts by preparing balanced meals, limiting family size, utilising properly government support programs, and ensuring children receive timely health checkups and early childhood education
