The Rwanda Parliament's volleyball team emerged as the champions in the men's category of the 14th edition of the East African Inter-Parliamentary Games, held in Mombasa, Kenya, from December 7 to 17, 2024.
This victory marks the first time the Rwanda Parliamentary men’s volleyball team has claimed the championship title, finishing the tournament with an unbeaten record. In the final match, they defeated the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) with a score of 3-2, achieving five wins in five games.
Prior to the final, Rwanda Parliament secured victories against Kenya (3-0), Tanzania (3-1), Uganda (3-1), and Burundi (3-0). In the women’s volleyball category, the Rwanda Parliament team managed to win 2 out of 4 matches.
In athletics, Hon. Mukabalisa Germaine won a bronze medal in the 800m race.
During this edition of the East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games, Rwandan Members of Parliament participated in four disciplines: volleyball (both men’s and women’s), athletics, darts, and golf.
The objectives of the East African Community Inter-Parliamentary Games are to enhance relationships among legislators from EAC national assemblies and the EALA through cultural and social interactions, particularly through sports.
