The Standing Committees

The Standing Committee is an organ whereby matters are preliminarily examined and put on the agenda of the Plenary Assembly. Each Standing Committee has its responsibilities.

Standing Committees of the Senate share the following responsibilities:
  1. to monitor the application of fundamental principles;
  2. to consider bills;
  3. to carry out oversight of the Executive activities;
  4. to analyse documents related to the approval of appointments of officials;
  5. to analyse activity reports of public institutions as tabled before the Parliament;
  6. to examine the petitions of the population submitted to the Senate.

Where considered necessary, the Plenary Assembly or the Bureau of the Senate can assign other responsibilities to Committees.
